So I have mentioned this before, but I’m obsessed with fruit and plant photography.  In high school, I won a photography award for a series of images I took, comparing parts of the human body to plant life, lining the images up next to each other to highlight the similarities. I just love how the colours and texture appear on a film roll or digitally created in a studio. In LA I stopped by the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition at the Getty and one of the rooms was dedicated to his botanical photography and they were just so. beautiful. and kicked my obsession back into gear. A lot of them were just up-close macro images of orchids – the stems, the leaves, the flowers and the textures look so interesting and sexy.

The Best Swimwear Styles of the Summer

Commoner Creature Swimwear Edition SS16 BikiniI’m a terrible viking. I’m terrible at dealing with cold weather, terrible dealing with winter fashion (I just want to be warm!). And since I can count my “tanning days” this year on one hand, I’m mega excited to go across the pond in a few weeks to feel the burn in LA.

Just give me sun. Please.

I’m trying to figure out which suit and/or bikini I should be packing – there are so many great options out there! So I’ve done a list of my favourite summer styles. What’s your go-to beach look???

Introducing Commoner Creature Cravings: Pinterest Edition

I’m excited to share with you a new concept for the Commoner Creature brand; a curated Pinterest board full of treasures and inspiration! I’m always pinning the latest trends that I enjoy and have had similar boards privately for well over a year now so I figured  might as well make a public one to share with you all. Check it out HERE!

On the board, there will be a key look featured with similar inspirational images as well as actual products complete with a link-to-buy scattered around it. I’ve done four concepts so far; Earth Tones, an All White Look, a Sporty look and a Denim & White Shirt look inspired by the latest post on the blog. There are also many different inspiration boards on the Commoner Creature Pinterest-account. If you’re not on the platform yet, it’s super easy to sign up by linking it with your Facebook – trust me, it’s addictive 🌾

I hope you’ll enjoy it – let me know which look I should do next!

April Cravings!

Hello everyone, and happy April! In London we are getting some glimpses of sun between the showers and it’s starting to feel like Spring. This is one of my favourite seasons; I love the smell of wet asphalt being dried by the sun, the look of people wearing sandals and shorts getting caught in the rain, the dandelions pushing their way through the cement and last but not least; knowing that summer is just around the corner. So I feel it is quite fitting to do a little April cravings post with three looks I wish I could wear right now. How AMAZING is the long bomber jacket from Weekday?! I wish they had a store in London.

I wanted to share this Instagram account with you guys. This woman is incredibly talented and inspirational and I’m really excited to see the full set for one of her latest shoots, “Solid Ground” for Whitelies Magazine!

I feel like this post should have a pun-ny title related to the Beastie Boys but it’s Saturday and my brain waves are simmering at best. I’m starting to get really into gold and brassy details, it’s maximalist but looks so great paired with simple or architectural silhouettes.

Meet Cheesedal

Cheesedal is a Korean online retail store that proves how important good styling of product shots can be. I’m all the way over in Europe, drooling over clothes that I don’t even think I can buy! The way they pan out the photography and styling is amazing – it’s as though they do mini-editorials or lookbooks for each and every item. E-commerce like this can make the customer stay for a long time – you just want to stick around and look at the pictures and be inspired. It’s much appreciated in these times when most online stores, especially the big retailers, do kind of drab product shots.

Have a look yourself at the website, or have a look at some of the stylish photography below!
